Vertical Garden Installation

Green Wall

Vertical garden, also commonly known as green wall, refers to all form of vegetated wall surfaces. Not only spectacularly beautiful, vertical gardens are also useful in enlivening the ambiance. Vertical gardens help to absorb heated gas, lower both indoor and outdoor temperature as well as a more beautiful place. A vertical garden, in essence, can be divided into two major categories namely green facades and living walls. Green facades refer to climbing plants that either grows directly on a wall or in specially designed supporting structures such as creeper plants. The plants are rooted to rooftop ground while the shoot system grows down the side of the building. On the other hand, a living wall involves the combined usage of geotextiles, irrigation systems, a growing medium, polypropylene plastic containers, and vegetation.

The Installation Steps

The first step in installing a vertical garden is to ensure that the installation surface is flat, sound and free of defects before mounting the vertical gardening system. Depending on the design of the vertical garden, if a horizontal wood plank is used with mounting brackets, it is a best practice not to install the included screw until the final desired layout is achieved. To mount vertical garden plantings to a wall, a grid of hooks are sometimes used due to its simplicity. Next, as the vertical garden is sometimes also installed indoors, for extra safety purposes, rubber pond liner is used on the wall. However, it is always best to consult with a licensed architect for structural advice for large installation if you are worried about moisture sensitive areas.
